Certification schemes for the production of important fruit species planting material in Croatia

Sažetak

Health status is one of the main factors conditioning the quality of fruit planting material. Certification schemes provide the production of planting material free from pathogens, primarily viruses and phytoplasmas. Croatia has adopted European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO/OEPP) certification schemes, which are now available on Internet in Croatian translation
(http://www.hcphs.hr/default.aspx?id=307). Legislation in force, general principles, reasons and the purpose of important fruit species plant material production under a certification scheme are briefly discussed in the article.
