Project 65 plus of Zagreb City Libraries : active involvement of senior citizens in cultural and social events

Sažetak
Zagreb City Libraries have been conducting programs intended for the social inclusion of senior citizens and their active involvement in cultural and social events. In the project 65 plus senior citizens are not only users but also creators of the program; they become students who acquire new knowledge, and teachers who share their knowledge and experience with others.
The project includes:
1. Books at your door – delivery of books and magazines to senior citizen’s homes in Zagreb and also to other users who cannot come to the library;
2. Art workshop – free art workshops for senior citizens with the purpose of encouraging them to express their creativity in libraries;
3. Information literacy class for older people – free workshops for information and computer literacy in libraries;
4. Generations encounters: lectures, workshops, “talking rooms” for kindergarten children, where senior citizens take active part in sharing their knowledge, wisdom and experience;
5. Exhibitions of the 65 plus – exhibitions of the works whose authors are older people.
