Sažetak
On the basis of published and unpublished sources, especially school yearbooks in Ivanec and literature, the author analyses the development of the boys` and the girls` school in Ivanec from their establishment until 1918. Through quantitative statistical analysis and comparative interpretation it was possible to draw conclusions on the effects of reform efforts in education à both on the success, but also on the problems observed in the process of modernising elementary education in the local area of Ivanec.
