Sixty Years of Život i škola (1952 – 2011)

Sažetak
In this article, the authors give an account of the foundation and
development of the journal Život i škola over the past sixty years, i.e. from 1952 to
2011. The authors investigate, analyse, explain and interpret the contribution of Život
i škola to the pedagogical theory and educational practice over the past sixty years.
The article is based on the analysis of relevant pedagogical documentation: sources
(all issues published between 1982 and 2011) and bibliography (published analyses
for the period between 1952 and 1981). In a study, quantitative and qualitative
methods were used within the constructivist paradigm that include all numerical data
of the journal: the number of authors, pages, papers, volumes, years of activity of
editors-in-chief and technical editors, printing run, the number of special and thematic
issues, and other data. The collected data were analyzed, compared, explained and
interpreted by the qualitative method. As a result, certain trends and patterns have
been noted.
Over the past sixty years, Život i škola has established itself as an important
professional journal in the field of pedagogy. In terms of the number of contributors
and subscribers, it has significantly exceeded the initial regional orientation, and it is
one of the leading pedagogical journals in Croatia today. Papers from Život i škola are
indexed in major databases.
Analysed contents provide not only a whole range of useful longitudinal-vertical
information, but also point at certain transversal structures and relationships.
In exploring the contents of Život i škola we can observe external and internal
changes that have taken place in the educational system and pedagogy, both
nationally and globally.
