Abstract

The authors deal with marine pollution from ships and legal regulations for marine protection. The theme of the paper is Marpol Convention which is one of the most important conventions of sea protection from all substances polluting from ships. The convention prihibits sea pollution in any way – by throwing out, releasing, discharging, pouring out or leaking. So, it contains a number of technical measures by which discharging of harmful substances is restricted, especially oil. At the same time it lays down standards for shipbuilding.
To meet the standards regulated by Marpol-convention the flag country should perform periodical surveys and issue certificates laid down by this convention.
