Finally, the paper presents an overview of the current state of police cooperation and of the framework for the work of future national S.I.Re.N.E. office of the Republic of Croatia after the signing of the Accession Agreement in December 2011. It analyzes preparatory activities conducted through the project of EU bilateral aid, with the purpose of getting an insight into current circumstances and possibilities for setting up a national S.I.Re.N.E. offi-ce. Statistical information have been used in order to describe the core problems of the future national S.I.Re.N.E. office – large work volume of the office, especially in the period immediately before and after becoming part of the Schengen Area. In its conclusion, the paper outlines key tests and goals in international police cooperation which need to be achieved before becoming part of the Schengen Area.
