Tourism development on the island of Brač

Abstract

Because of the extremely favourable natural and social conditions for development, tourism on the island of Brač became one of the most important branches of economy during the twentieth century. By analysing the main tourism indicators - the number and structure of the accomodation capacity, number of tourist arrivals, overnight stay and realised income, it is established that, when tourism is concerned, Brač is one of the most developed Croatian islands. Further tourism development has to be realised within the concept of sustainable tourism development.
