STRESS FRACTURE OF THE LATERAL CUNEIFORM: A CASE REPORT

Sažetak

This paper deals with multilateral pathogenesis of the stress fractures. Special concern is given to the stress fractures in athletes. The case report presenting the stress fracture of the lateral cuneiform bone in a female soccer player is described. The details involving illness history, clinical symptoms, radiology data as well as therapy procedures are presented. The total recovery time was six months. The stress fractures of the cuneiform bone are rare and the stress fracture of the lateral cuneiform bone has not been previously reported in literature. The paper points to the fact that the attending physician should bare in mind the possibility of such type of injury while determining the diagnosis of pain in the foot, especially if no trauma or foot abnormalities exist in the patient history.
