The Role of Native Idiom Communication Skills Development of Young Pupils

Sažetak
Experts and interested laymen often voice contradictory opinions
on whether one should encourage children to use their native speech
outside the intimate family environment or not. Many argue that a child
has to master the standard idiom as soon as possible, and then use it
consistently in ‘official’ situations (in a preschool or school institution).
Research carried out for the needs of this study contributes to doubting
the belief that a child’s use of the native language should be suppressed
in school and everyday communication. It proves that knowledge of the
native idiom contributes to the adoption of the standard idiom.
