Sažetak
The objective of the research was to find out what television nowadays means to preschool children in an urban environment. Research methodology implied a focus group, i.e. the conversations were held in two groups of children aged four to seven years who attended a kindergarten in Zagreb. The questions were divided into three parts: a) those about children shows, cartoons and children’s creativity, b) those about television in general and c) those about programs unsuitable for children. The results have demonstrated that television has an active role in children’s everyday life as well as that there exists a trend of children spending free time by watching television. Taking into account the research method as well as sample size, these results are an introduction into a broader research dealing with the relationship between children and television.
