Sažetak

The regularity in the development of specialized dairy farms has been established. The characteristics of those farms in Croatia were investigated. The number of private dairy farms in Croatia is decreasing owing to farmers' age. Significant investment is needfull in order to increase and specialize the production of milk on farms in Croatia. The breeding policy and artificial insemination results interfere with the increase of farms' size. If the increase of farms' size in Croatia should depend on their proper financial support and investment at actual production circumstances, the market milk production would be insufficient due to low productivity and economic inefficiency. Undeveloped milk market and an inadequate State policy cannot activate economic lows that would stimulate farms' size increase rapid enlarging of milk production per cow and increase of labour productivity.
