Sažetak
Trial excavations of the site Migalovci - Vivodine (Vojvodine) located in the north-eastern part of the Požega basin, in one of the valleys on the northwest slopes of Dilj, were conducted in June 2011 (Fig. 1). The site was discovered during a field survey of the route of the main pipeline Slobodnica - Donji Miholjac in the spring of 2008. In 2009 and 2010 Geoarheo d.o.o. conducted rescue archaeological excavations which resulted in discovery of the cemetery consisting of 27 graves dated to the Barice - Gređani group from the earlier phase of the Urnfield culture (Br D-Ha A1) (Nodilo 2011).
Trial excavations covered an area south and east of the place where the graves were discovered, along the route of the pipeline. In the northern part of the trench 1, the grave 28 was discovered, with burnt remains of the deceased placed at the bottom of a rectangular burial with rounded corners and covered with the bowl with an oblique rim (Fig. 4). In the fill of the grave, above the bowl, fragments of few more vessels were found (Fig. 3). With the burnt remains of the deceased a bronze pin with mace-shaped head decorated with fir branches, which is one of the most common forms in graves of the Barice-Gređani group, was found.
Apart from the cemetery in Migalovci, a nearby cemetery in Vlatkovac also corroborates the fact that the north-eastern part of the Požega basin represents an area of the expansion of the Barice-Gređani group during earlier phases of Urnfield culture (Ložnjak Dizdar 2005: 33- 34, 2011: 30; 2011b: 41). Graves of the Barice-Gređani group in the area of the Požega basin are also known in Grabarje and Požega.
The results of the trial excavations in Migalovci indicated the need for further research of this extremely important site, and confirmed previous findings regarding the chronological picture of the cemetery, and its cultural affiliation to the Barice-Gređani group. Future research should focus on the north-western slopes of the elevation where the largest number of graves was found during the rescue excavations.
