Sažetak

This article presents the conservation and restoration works done on the decorated Easter egg from the second half of the 15th century. The egg was found at the archaeological site Gudovac-Gradina near Bjelovar, in whose city museum it also got stored. It describes all phases of work, from the recording of existing conditions, the process of cleaning, assembling parts, restoring it, making to-scale drawing and recording the situation after the completion of the project. Materials and methods used during the work and recommendations for handling the restored object are also given. Due to the high degree of damage, the intervention was highly complex. Procedures were always done with respect to its originality and restoration ethics and all the methods and materials used meet the requirement of reversibility. The restored Easter egg is a rare surviving example of the continuity of the tradition of folk customs related to the religious holiday of Easter from the Middle Ages to today.
