Sažetak

The 2012 rescue excavations of the Zvonimirovo-Veliko Polje site focused on the central part of the elevation, yielding six cremation burials of the La Tene culture (LT 94- LT 99). Warrior burials with weapons and costume and toiletry items stand out by the size and depth of the pit. The offensive weaponry consists of bent swords in scabbards of group 6, associated with belt sets and long spears with prominent midrib and short socket. A long tanged iron knife from grave LT 96, whose blade tip was inserted into a socket, can be considered an exceptional find. The defensive weaponry includes shield bosses with slightly trapezoidal wings of type VIIA. The assemblage of toiletry items consists of scissors and razors, while the costume is represented by iron fibulae of Middle La Tene scheme. The female burial contained costume and jewellery items. Ceramic vessels and animal bones were found as goods in graves of both sexes. The pot from grave LT 96 is decorated with stamped concentric circles, connected with garlands executed by a series of tiny impressions. Based on the weapons and costume items, the graves are dated to the Mokronog IIb phase, underscoring the exceptionally important role the site played in the research of the Late Iron Age in northern Croatia.
