Sažetak
The Republic of Croatia is the newest member of the European Union. The act of admission to the European Union was preceded by numerous admission negotiation, fulfilling the demands, and the adjustment to the laws of the European Union of which the most important ones to agricultural producers are chapter 11 – Agriculture and the rural development and chapter 27 – The Environment. Considering the structure of farming in the Republic of Croatia, which mostly belongs to small family farms, a research was conducted on farmers’ familiarity with the laws of the EU, concerning agricultural production and the environment protection in agriculture. The results of the research show the positive attitude towards the changes that are about to happen, and the highest awareness in the ≤30 age group, of college and high school education. The results suggest a further need to advise and educate the agricultural producers in the 41-60 age group of primary education.
