Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Cruising Tourism in Croatia

Sažetak
Cruising represents an important segment of the overall nautical tourism offer, both in the Mediterranean and in the Croatian Adriatic Sea. Basically, the offer may be divided into boats and nautical ports. The basic offer makes further distinction between subtypes subject to the basic classification.
Cruising offer in Croatia is based on the specific Croatian old-timer fleet of well equipped sailboats (trabaccolo) converted into cruisers. Such a fleet is highly distinguished in the European offer market and very well accepted in the challenging demand market. The offer of cruiser ports of call operates within the organization of large town ports, with separately organized large cruiser dockings. In Europe, it is organized into an elite association of cruiser ports of call named „Cruise Europe“, based in Rome and consisting of approx. 70 elite European ports [1]. In Croatia, the port of Dubrovnik is the member of the association, with two different locations for cruiser accommodation: „The Port of Dubrovnik“ located at Gruž, and „The Old Port“.
The paper presents both the quantity and quality analyses along with the guidelines and strategies for the cruising tourism future development in the Republic of Croatia.
