Sažetak

The European dimension in education has been present in the European educational policy, scientific research and professional debates for a very long time now, unlike in Croatia, where that particular subject is of significantly weaker interest. Although school counsellors are often viewed as those mostly responsible for monitoring and implementing new guidelines for the school development, the European dimension in education was never brought in contact with the opinion of students of education (pedagogy), that is, future school counsellors, just as the question of higher education contribution to acquiring competences for the implementation of this concept into their future work was never brought up. Based on the results of the national research on the competences of school counsellors and students of the graduate programme in education (pedagogy), which included competences of the European dimension, this work shall present the results of research, suggestions and recommendations for the implementation of the content of this concept into the higher education.
