Sažetak

The Institute of Archaeology in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Science and Humanities in Zagreb and the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb conducted the first stage of systematic field survey of Upper Drava valley (Podravina) in 2014. The research in question is part of a multiyear project which aims to collect data on distribution of surface archaeological material in the mentioned area, as a reflection of its usage through all historical periods.
To enable detailed documentation of distribution patterns of archaeological surface material, three routes through Podravina were determined before carrying out the field survey. They were determined in the southwest – northeast direction, vertical to the geographical zones of Podravina. Overall, the field survey included 136 locations on 9 stations along Route 1 with material which confirms continuous human activity from prehistory to today. Around 177 ha of land were systematically surveyed to define various degrees of intensity in distribution of surface material. Among these, it is highly likely that there are 10 outstanding locations with traces of subsurface archaeological sites.
