Abstract

Although there is scientific evidence that consumption of fruit has positive influence on human health, in many parts of the world consumption of fruit is still very low. The purpose of this research was to investigate frequency of fresh fruit consumption, and factors that influence daily consumption of fresh fruit on the area of City of Zagreb. For that purpose it was conducted face to face survey on sample of 165 respondents. The research results revealed that large percentage of respondents (32,12 %) consume fresh fruit daily. Significant influence on daily consumption of fresh fruit have: subjective knowledge of respondents about nutrition, attitudes towards fruit consumption, attitude towards influence of food on health and age of respondents. The research results can be used for creation of recommendations for marketing practice. So it is recommended to carry out educations that focus on importance of right nutrition, and advertising that focus on relationship between two aspects; enjoyment in fruit consumption and positive influence of fruit consumption on human heath.
