Sažetak
Hops of the cultivar Atlas showed symptoms of wilting in the region near Zalec in Slovenia. From the roots rot we isolated a variety of Phytophthora. That isolate had the following characteristics: the sporangia were inverted pear-shaped or eggshaped and were scarcely papillate. The sporangia did not have a pedicel. The dimensions of the sporangia were 33.3—56.6 X 26.6—43.2 pm. All antheridia were para- gynous; the dimensions of oogonia were 25.5—36.6 pm. This isolate did not form chalmydospores. The optimal temperature for growth was + 25°C, but at + 2*C and +30°C the isolate stopped growing. On the basis of cultural and morphological characteristics we concluded that this isolate belonged to the species Phytophthora citricola Sawada. The presence of P. citricola Sawada in Yugoslavia is described for the first time.
