Sažetak

This paper discusses and defi nes the conditions that have contributed to the development of shipping in economic activity, and therefore the infrastructure requirements that are signifi cantly stimulate the development of the overall economy and industry in this area during the last century, creating a distinctive economic and social Mediterranean-Adriatic identity. The work has the intention to explore, analyze and consider the historical processes and circumstances and geographical factors that set the economic prosperity of the city and surrounding area that has been made in the mid 50s of last century.
