Sažetak

The green tobacco aphid (Myzus persicae Sulz.) belongs to the autochtone entomo-fauna of Macedonia. It is spread throughout all tobacco growing areas. Although it is present a-s a species it provokes rather considerable damages in the regions of Strumica, Kumanovo, Tetovo, Vinica, Radoviša, Skoplje etc. In the regions of Zrilep, Bitola, Kruševac Demir-Hisar and Makedonski Brod despite its constant appearance this insect does not provoke the damages of the great importance. In the course of the study of population mechanism we tried to detect the factors which regulate the density of the population and limit overpopulation on the tobacco grown on over 5000 hectares, in the conditions of tobacco production in the area of Prilep. The green tobacco aphid (Myzus persicae Sulz) is characterized by a high reproductive capacity, in the course of one year 10-12 generations can be developed on the tobacco. Should the resistence of milieu not exist, the population would grow more rapidly. The most important limiting role is atributed to the carnivore ladybug (Coccinella septempunctata L.). This insect develops two generations in the climate conditions of Macedonia. The transmission in the course of the development is performed by the adult bugs and larvae. On the basis of our biological studies and of the literature dates we have established that one individual lady bug lays 450 - 600 eggs within 40 - 50 days. Embryo development in the natural conditions lasts 3 - 4 days and the percent of hatching is 95 - 100%. The duration of larvae stage is 14 - 28 days at the temperature 18ᵒC the period of puppet stage lastes 3 - 6 days. In the course of 24 hours one larvae eats 17-20 aphids on the tobacco or in average in the course of its whole larvae stage 361,2 aphids or totally 756 aphids during its entire life.
