Sažetak
In the year 1970 and, 1971 the conditions for the accurrence and the development of some diseases and pests were shown to be favorable, even for the occurrence of the parasite which up to now were not observed of maize in Yugoslavia. In the quarantine field of the Institute for plant production and breeding in Zagreb (Rugvice) the presence of H. maydis was detected in the year 1970 on a line introduced from the United States. In the year 1971 the disease was not observed. For the first time in our country the causal agents of the leaf spot disease were obseryed, such as Kabatiella zeae Narita et Hiratsuka and Epicocum sp. Helminthosporium carbonum Ullstr. and Puccinia zeae Béer. occurred last few years with showing tendency of spreading. Fusarium sp., Helminthosporium turcicum, Ustilago maydis, Nygrofpora oryzae and Sclerotium bataticola occurre regulary every year more of less intensively. Sorosporium reilianum appears sporadicaly only. In the year 1971 the occurrence of Oscinella frit L. was important, having not been observed in such an intensity till now. On the domaged young plants Ustilago maydis was present almost regularly. In the same year a strong occurrence of Jullus sp. was observed on the maize plants, just after emergence. The atack of Ostrima nubilalis in the year 1971 was shown to be the weakest, in regard to the last ten years. Some pests (Agrotis segetum and Elateridae) were observed to be regular companions of maize. The occurrence of Tanimecum dilaticolis was observed to show an increasing intensity.
