Sažetak
ln the area of St. Peter Orehovec commune in 1995 the experimental hop garden was set up. The object of this long term experiment is primarily to examine suitability of soil and climatic conditions for hop production. There are four European hop cultivars involved in the experiment: Aurora, Savinjski Golding, Bobek and Hallertau Magnum. The differences between the cultivars in hop cones yield were not significant in al three growing seasons (from 1995 to 1997). In the third year of growing the highest yield of alpha acids have been determined in cv. Hallertau Magnum (233.0 kg/ha of alpha acids in 1977) and the lowest in cv. Savinjski Golding (46.2 kg/ha of alpha acids). The analyses of the hop quality were provided by using the high pressure liquid chromatography (HPCL). The highest content of alpha acids in dry matter of hop cones was detected in cv. Hallertau Magnum (12.89% in 1995 to 20% in 1997), the lowest one in cv. Savinjski Golding (2.5% in 1995 to 4.7% in 1997) and intermediary in Aurora (4.6% in 1995 to 10% in 1997) and Bobek (4.7% in 1995 to 6.4% in 1997). Ratio between beta fractions and alfa acids varied from year to year; in cv. Hallertau Magnum 0.45 in 1995 to 0.39 in 1997, in cv. Bobek 1.5 (1995) to 1 (1997), in cv. Savinjski Golding 0.84 (1995) to 0.64 (1997) and in cv. Aurora 0.6 (1995) to 0.45 (1997), respectively. The cohumulon share in alpha acid varied: in cv. Savinjski Golding from 36.9% (in 1996) to 31.6% (in 1997), in cv. Bobek 27.3% (1996) to 30% (1997), in cv. Hallertau Magnum 26.1% (1996) to 23.25 (1997) and Aurora 26.4% (1996) to 24.9% (1997), respectively. These results show that hop production in soil and climatic conditions of Subkalnik region is quite possible.
