Abstract

The paper describes natural preconditions for the development of health tourism
in Croatia. The first position is that of natural therapeutic factors which are divided in
climate, marine, and spa factors. Aside them, it is necessary to fulfil various therapeutic
conditions in the places of treatment. To proclaim a place as a natural health resort,
it is not only necessary to have natural therapeutic factors and satisfying treatment
conditions, but also to fulfil other requirements. In Croatia’s health service there are 17
operating natural health resorts with various natural therapeutic factors in different
health facilities. In addition, more than a hundred other places with natural therapeutic
factors have been found in Croatia. Some of them were used in the past and they could
be also used with others for the purpose of health tourism in Croatia.
