An appropriate synopsis of categories as the first phase in the compilation of a thesaurus

Sažetak
As a starting point in thesaurus making one should create an appropriate synopsis of categories which consist of both universal as well as culture-specific categories. These categories reflect a structured knowledge of the world and seem “the simplest and the most natural” to the authors, yet not to the recipients. However, a well-organized system of categories will serve as an eminently readable sociocultural document.
