Teacher’s self-assessment of enterpreneurial drive – contribution to creating entrepreneurial culture in primary school

Creating an entrepreneurial culture in society is associated with entrepreneurship in school education and training, qualification, level of education, abilities, opportunities and desire of immediate holders of educational work – educators, teachers, professionals and school principals – to act entrepreneurial, proactive, and innovative, to seek self-esteem and success. This paper analyses and discusses the research results of teachers’ entrepreneurial drive in elementary school, in the context of contributing to creating an entrepreneurial culture. The study was conducted on a sample of 466 subject teachers in 23 primary schools in the Republic of Croatia. The goal of research was to identify and discuss the dimensions of teacher’s entrepreneurial drive which proved to be significant in the questionnaire containing 42 statements structured in five subscales. Results were analysed by using descriptive statistics and interpreted through values of arithmeticmean, standard deviation and frequency of items in the questionnaire on the entrepreneurial drive.According to the results of this research, elementary school teachers show: a high degree of selfreported entrepreneurial drive in teaching, school and extracurricular work; the highest level of self-perception on proactivity and innovation, and achievement orientation, and self-esteem. Elementary school teachers indicate general characteristics for realization of an entrepreneurial culture in the school and the application of entrepreneurial pedagogy.
