Sažetak

The successful practice of weed control depends on detailed knowledge of weed species and their biology, especially on detailed understanding of the population dynamics of the weeds. The purpose of this paper has been to present the population parameters of the most important weeds in maize crop in the Posavina area (locality Oborovo). In this context, the plant number/m², stem height, total weight of shoots (biomass)/m² and root length of the species P. lapathifolium, A. retroflexus, E. crus-galli and P. capillare were measured in 1992 five times during the growing season (Table 1.). Species P. lapathifolium, A. retroflexus and E. crus-galli had the greatest number of plants/m² in the initial phase of the study (on 26the July) while at the end of the growth season it declined. The number of plants/m² in P. capillare varied from 2 to 4 plants/m² during the period of measuring. Maximum growth in relation to stem height and total weight of shoot biomass was observed on 22nd July for P. lapathifolium, on 31st August for A. retrofleuis and P. capillare and 26th September for E. crus-galli. The rhizosphere of weeds was in the soil layer to 29 cm.
