Abstract

Cargo tank inspection on chemical tankers is more demanding compared to inspections on other ship types. Cargo tanks on chemical tankers must meet the highest standards of cleanness because
certain types of cargo are very delicate and susceptible to contamination. The most common way to control the tank after washing is so-called wall wash inspection. The paper describes the role and the way of performing the wall wash inspection. Some problems that may occur during sampling and interpretation of the results are noted. The shortcomings of the wall wash inspections that need to be known in order to make a proper decision on loading the cargo have been discussed.
