Sažetak

Within the framework of the project The study of cave habitats and the headwaters area of Dubrovnik and area with the
aim of evaluating biodiversity and assess the acceptability of hydropower developments, during the period from August
to November 2014, systematic field speleological and bio-speleological research of 115 speleological objects,
underground structures, karst springs, wells and pools, was conducted in the continental area of Dubrovnik-
Achieved speleological research results were presented within the framework of the first Speleological Cadastre
of Dubrovnik-Neretva County named, in accordance with Dubrovnik Republic tradition, Spelaeologia Ragusina 1. The
article presents the research methods, in which the research team was divided into three parts: team for research
of aquatic underground habitats, team for research of terrestrial subterranean habitats, and cabinet team, charged
for analysis of the collected data and determination of collected biological material. The exact location for all
investigated locations was determined with GPS devices, and they were topographically recorded and digitalized.
According to analysis of the available previously achieved research, first topographical drawings were developed
for part of the investigated locations, some previous ones were amended and improved, and for some locations,
upon verification, previously developed topographical drawings were, without amendment, take over and digitalized.
A cadastral sheet for each investigated location was developed comprising of: location name, coordinates,
topographic map position, topographic plan (plan and cross section), label (plate number), length, depth, research
team, research date, topographical drawings authors, and digitalisations, as well as entrance photographs or other
location details. Geological, hydrogeological and geomorphological features of selected investigated speleological
and other objects were presented. Systematic analysis of the investigated objects was determined according to
their distribution by County sub regions, geomorphological type, dimensions, height of entrance above sea level
and according to distribution within the Natura 2000 ecological network areas. A summary of the biodiversity of
the investigated objects was presented, and the number of identified species in higher taxonomic groups is indicated,
and the biodiversity of true cave species was qualitatively analysed, particularly considering the invested
investigation effort and volume of speleological objects. Basic guidelines for further speleological and bio-speleological
research of the County, as well as for further amendments of the Cadastre were set.
