Sažetak

This article is dedicated to Doctor Wilhelm Wagner, the administrator of the Posavlje region Museum in Slavonski Brod. It has been produced on the basis of Wagner’s legacy preserved in the State and War Archives in Vienna, the Posavlje Museum in Slavonski Brod and few pieces of news from literature. Since Dr. Wilhelm Wagner’s life and work has almost been consigned to oblivion, his curriculum vitae has also been prepared. The inventory list of his legacy from the War Archive in Vienna is also attached (the one concerning Brod is marked as attachment A) together with the Wagner’s list of archive material from the Brod Museum (attachment B).
Dr. Wagner worked in Brod for two and half years (1946 – 1949). In this short period, he achieved impressive results in all activities he was entrusted with. Because of his responsible attitude, knowledge, expertise and diligence he received many prizes, not only from his closest colleagues Julije Hoffmann, Katarina Petrović and Vasilj Antipov, but also from outside collaborators of the Brod Museum (Ivo Rubić, Ðuro Basler, etc.) Loyalty to Slavonski Brod, its people and its history remained even after his return to Austria and his native city of Vienna.
Wagner also set up a library and made an inventory of the Borderland archive material of the Brod museum, produced essays of various volumes, on diverse topics, of great professional and scientific value and left another dozen or so unfinished ones. During his long and prolific life, he was involved in many areas: he was a lecturer on several technical colleges in Vienna, pedagogue, mentor, editor of school historical atlases and textbooks, author of many professional and scientific papers and a scholar who investigated topics from Slavonski Brod, Slavonia and Borderline area.
