Sažetak
Introduction: Moderation and diversity is the key of healthy nutrition. Proper nutrition means consuming a variety of food. Foodstuff, if taken individually, does not contain all the essential nutrients in the amount necessary for normal functioning of the organism. With a good combination of food and diversity, we reduce the possibility of developing deficiencies or excessive amounts of individual nutrients. Modern lifestyle, fast pace of life, stress and easy-to-access fast food are our daily life. Because of lack of leisure time, eating healthy is a growing challenge.
Aim: The aim of this paper is to investigate how often nurses consume vegetables.
Methods: For the analysis it was used an anonymous survey of eighteen questions, twelve of them were related to demographics and six related to the consumption of vegetables.
Results: The study involved 60 respondents, of whom 57 female respondents (95%) and 3 male respondents (5%). According to the self-assessment, most respondents, 41 of them (68,3%) state that their financial condition is average, and 43 of them (71,75%) do not have any deviation from the health assessment compared to the previous year.
On the question how often do they consume salad 38 respondents (63%) stated that they consume salad every day. 5% of respondents consume potato every day, while 73% of respondents consume it twice a week. 13% of respondents consume cabbage, kale and cauliflower every day, while 60% of respondents consume it twice a week. 6% of respondents consume legumes every day, and 37% of respondents consume it rarely. 58% of respondents consume root vegetables twice a week, and 17% of respondents consume it rarely. 3 respondents (5%) consume leaf vegetables every day and 53% of respondents consume it rarely.
Conclusion: Given the results obtained and the fact that the survey was completed by nurses, the data on the consumption of leafy vegetables is devastating, knowing their positive effect on health. The financial condition themselves and the fast pace of life are some of the reasons for low vegetable consumption.
