Sažetak

The purpose of this study is to (1) determine the relationship between selected intellectual and non-intellectual variables, and (2) investigate the ability of selected non-intellectual (motor and personality) variables to differentiate among discrete intellectual levels of preadolescent children. The data were obtained from three independent studies. To achieve the first purpose data were collected on 37 non-intellectual and two intellectual variables. The data for the second purpose were collected on 34 non-intellectual and 8 intellectual variables. In order to determine the relationship between selected intellectual and non-intellectual performance, factor analysis technique was employed, and seven factors were isolated for each sex. In order to investigate ability of selected non-intellectual (motor and personality) variables to differentiate among discrete intellectual levels, an analysis of variance design was applied. It could be concluded that the coordination items in general discriminate among high, medium, and low intellectual groups more than either balance items or general athletic performance variables. Also, the three intellectual groups differ significantly in many personality traits as measured by the Porter and Cattell's CPQ, especially in factors A, C, F, H, I, N and O.
Based on all findings presented in this study, a final conclusion could be made and such conclusion indicated that physical, emotional, and intellectual development are related in terms of cause and effect relationships, which tend to support the theory of Integrated Development by Ismail.
