Sažetak

Four silage corn hybrids, Natali, Volga, Bc492 and Bc4982, and four different plant densities – 70,000; 85,000; 100,000 and 115,000 plants/hectare were investigated in three years trials. Of hybrid properties, number of emerged plants, number of plants in harvest, sterile plants percentage and above ground portions weight were monitored. The trials were established in Northwestern Croatia in block designs with five replications from1996 through 1998.
The largest number of emerged plants was determined with Natalia (87,544 plants per hectare), Volga less by 100, Bc4982 less by 4253 and Bc492 less by 4680. These differences were not significant.
The largest number of plants in harvest was determined with hybrid Natali (85,856 plants per hectare), Volga less by 831, Bc4982 less by 6545 and Bc492 less by 7120 (significant).
The least percentage of sterile plants was found with Volga (3,83 %), Natalia had less by 0,56 %, Bc4982 less by 2,42 % (significant) and Bc492 less by 3,08 % (significant).
The maximum above ground portions weight was found with Volga (58,488 kg/ha), Natalia had less by 1345 kg, Bc4982 less by 8808 kg (significant) and Bc492 less by 9412 kg (significant).
The largest number of emerged plants and harvested plants was found at the highest plant density (115,000 plants per hectare), while the least number of these plants was found at minimal plant density (70,000 plants per hectare). These differences are significant.
The least percentage of sterile plants was found at the plant density of 70,000 plants/ha (2,93 %), at the density of 85,000 plants/ha sterile plants percentage increases by 1,58, at 100,000 plants/ha this percentage increases by 3,50 and at the plant density of 115,000 plants/hectare the procentage increases by 5,71 %. All these differences are significant.
The maximum above ground portions weight was found at the density of 100,000 plants per hectare (57,480 kg/ha), at the density of 115,000 plants per hectare it was less by 3440 kg, at the density of 85,000 plants per hectare it was less by 4190 kg and at the density of 70,000 it was less by 7896 kg. All these differences are significant.
