Abstract

In three years trials there were investigated three soybean cultivars, Vuka, Podunavka i Drava, and five planting dates, April 10, 20 and 30 and May 10 and 20. Number of emerged plants, stalk height, above ground portions weight and grain protein percentage were monitored during the trials.
The trials were established in block designs with five replications from 1996 through 1998 in Northwestern Croatia.
Drava cultivar had the largest number of emerged plants per hectare (688,038) Vuka cultivar less by 3217 and Podunavka cultivar less by 25,180 (significant).
Drava cultivar had the highest stalk (121 cm), Vuka cultivar less by 1 cm and Podunavka cultivar less by 9 cm (significant).
Drava had the highest grain protein percentage (40,57 %), Vuka less by 0,56 and Podunavka less by 2,60 % (significant).
The largest number of emerged plants per hectare was determined with the last planting date, May 20, (720,424), and that number was decreasing with every further planting date and was the least with first planting date, April 10, (615,532). There are significant differences between April 10, 20, 30 and May 20, and between May 10 and April 10, 20.
The maximum stalk height was determined with first planting date, April 10 (135 cm). With every further planting date the height was decreasing and was minimal with last planting date, May 20 (101 cm), the difference ranged from 7 to 34 cm. The differences between planting dates were significant.
The maximum above ground portions weight was determined with first planting date, April 10 (167,84 kg/ha). With every further planting date the weight was decreasing and was minimal with last planting date, May 20 (122,44 kg/ha). The differences between planting dates were significant. The highest grain protein percentage was determined with first planting date, April 10 (41,87 %). With every further planting date it was decreasing and was lowest with last planting date, May 20 (36,70 %). In comparison to April 10, April 30 and May 10 and 20 are significantly better.
