Sažetak

Milk fatty acid composition is influenced by a number of factors, including genetic markers which are of increasing importance today. Research in the field of genetic markers, with the discovery of potential candidate genes and their impact on the quantity and composition of milk, offers the possibility of its application in the selection of dairy cows for high milk yield and desired milk composition. In this paper, we present an overview of previous studies of two candidate genes, fatty acid synthase (FASN) and stearoyl- CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1), which are responsible for fatty acid synthesis, and thus affect the milk fatty acid composition.
