Sažetak

In Međimurje open spaces are traditonally laid out.
Decorating balcories, windows and yards has been populary in villages for a long time with laudscaping open spaces in towns becoming more interesive recently.
Commonly used annuals and biannuals are of intensive colour and are planted twice a year, in spring and in autumn.
The flowers are mostly not combined with perennials. The shape of flower beds is simple for easier and less expensive keeping.
Flower species are restricted to those which are sustainable in summer time with simple and well adopted maintenance technology.
Plug seedlings are of good quality and are produced by professionals.
The type and style of planting and lay out of flower beds are not strictly defined and in harmony with architecture of nearby buildings. In villages planting is a matter of individual choice while in towns it depends on commissioned projects.
New annual species are coming in to practice slowly, depending on market offer, price and the toughness of a certain species.
The native, indigenous species have not been used so far in landscape gardening in town open spaces in Međimurje.
