Abstract

Due to the development of the electronic book market, publishers are at a critical juncture in which they must react to major changes taking place in the digital world. Popularity of electronic books is continuously growing, and devices used to read them are becoming more user-friendly and widely accessible to all users. The publisher’s duty is to meet the demands and needs of the users, which are constantly changing. In addition, their goal is to offer a wider selection of books in order to make the share of e-books in the market more significant and to make the price of e-books and e-readers more accessible to Croatian readers. The situation in which Croatian publishing found itself in the past was usually connected to state politics and ideologies, which the publishing industry used for promotional purposes. Nowadays, due to global connectivity, we have no excuses not to follow publishing trends because of specific censorships. The only thing limiting us is that we refuse to accept risks that certain investments entail.
