Business librarianship : future or utopia?

Sažetak

The concept of business librarianship is new in Croatia. The “Ivan Goran Kovačić” public library in Karlovac has been the first to open its doors for the Business library programme. In mid-2017. public library in Rijeka opened its Business corner. Although there are only two libraries in the country that provide these kind of services, great interest exists, especially among entrepreneurs and others from the world of business, which indicates that those services should be implemented in other, public, school or university, libraries also, adjusted to their users. The purpose of this work is to give a review of a business librarianship concept, to show development of business librarianship in the informational-business centre of “Ivan Goran Kovačić” public library as the first library that provides this kind of service in Croatia, to assess whether it has fulfilled the goals it were assigned by the project proposal, to present how did users react to this new service and to consider does this service has a future or it will be consumed only as a pilot project.
