The Rationalization of Swimming Classes for the Pupils of Primary Schools

Sažetak

In the sample of four second classes of primary school "Bratstvo-Jedinstvo" in Zagreb experimental programs of swimming lessons for swimmers and non-swimmers were administered. In boht groups there were 16 lessons during 30 days. Swimming ability testing after the lessons were over showed that swimmers mastered one of the swimming techniques very well and that 86% of non-swimmers were able to swimm 16 m distance.
As swimming lessons in primary school are administered in fifth class and distributed during the school year (an hour in 2 weeks), it is sugerted that swimming lessons should start in second class and concentrate them in 30 days.
Also the programmes for swimmers and nonswimmers are sugested.
