Sažetak
This research paper attempts to empirically demonstrate to what extent online learning contributes to conceptual and general understanding of physical concepts in comparison with constructivist and traditional learning. For this purpose, the author constructed and metrically standardised a conceptual pre-test and post-test, as well as a general knowledge test, which were used on a relevant sample (N=90) of students in the 7th grade of elementary school. The results show that there is a statistically signifi cant difference (F=12.0,
p<.01) between online and traditional learning in the conceptual understanding of fundamental physical concepts, as well as in the general test of knowledge of physics (t=5.92, p<.00). Similarly, the calculated g-factor which expresses the ratio of absolute growth of results in the pre-test and the total possible growth in the pre-test indicates a medium high value for the online group (g=0.42±0.20sd.), whereas for the traditional group it is extremely low (g=0.02±0.30sd.). Online learning was additionally evaluated by means of a questionnaire which showed the positive attitude of students toward all forms of online learning. The results of this research show the higher potential for the implementation
of online forms of teaching in the learning of physics.
