Sažetak
In order to establish the relations between motor characteristics and success in modified Heian kate, a sample was used consisting of 200 men, aged 17 to 19, all citizens of SFRJ, and clinically healthy, without morphologic and motor aberrations and all residing in Sinj.
In order to assess motor abilities, 23 measuring instruments of composite type were used to assess movement frequency, co-ordination, flexibility, balance, explosive force a repetitive force, all of them making up the predictory group of variables. The criterion variable was presented by assessing the achievement in modified Heian kate, judged by 6 component experts (0 to 10 points).
Basic static procedures were applied motor tests and success in modified Heian karate .77 and then coefficient of determination .59 confirm the hypothesis about a significant effect of motor abilities on efficiency in karate technique. The highest coefficients of correlation with success in katee were present in those motor tests that intended to measure coordination and explosive force.
