Sažetak
The study was carried out with the aim to establish the factor structure of certain indicators of psychosomatic status which mostly point out functioning of certain segments of oxygen transport system. A battery of 12 measuring instruments was applied on the sample of 46 healthy male subjects. The applied battery was applied to represent certain anthropometric measures as well as certain funcntional characteristics of the respiratory and circulatory systems.
The analysis of selected manifest indicators of psychosomatic status showed that the sample had a significantly greater height and only slighter greater weight than the average Yugoslav population. Also, there was a significant aberration, in the positive sense, in the vital capacity in comparison with some norms for that age group. Comparing the respiratory and circulatory measures it is important to mention a significantly lover breathing frequency during maximum effort and in the third minute of recuperation, which in this sample approaches the bottom values of trained persons. This cause of this aberration is a three month programmed kineziologic treatment which the subjects had undergone.
The data were processed after the program Little Jiff Mark IV of Kaiser and Rice. The number of latent dimensions was determined according to the Gutman-Kaiser criterion, and isolated factors were transformed into orthoblique position. The structure of isolated factors demanded the following interpretation:
- the first factor includes measures responsible for the capacity of blood to take up as much as possible of oxgen per unit of volume:
- the second isolated factor would be corpulency of the body (voluminosity and mass), its structure suggest a conclusion that persons of greater mass, height and vital capacity have a greater absolute ability to aerobic consumption. This high positive relation between corpulency and aerobic ability was probably influenced by the sample of subjects themselves. The sample was homogenous with respect to fat tissue with a maximum of muscle tissue mass which is the greatest consumer of oxygen:
- the third is responsible for regulatory efficiency of the oxygen transport system. Since the projection of complex variable, the maximum uptake of oxygen, on this factor is greater, this suggests the conclusion that aerobic complex variable, the maximum uptake of oxygen, on this factor is greatest, this suggests the conclusion that aerobic energetic abilities are significantly determined by regulatory abilities of the respiratory system:
-the fourth orthoblique is saturated by maximum pulse frequency in the third minute of work and the sum of pulese in the three minutes of recuperation. Because of small variability of these measures all young people regardless of level of training achieve similar heart frequencies in maximum effort) this factor is orthoblique on the system of others, so that its structure does not represent a part of chain in the oxygen transport system. It would be wrong to assume that the efficiency of heart and circulatory system is not a function of aerobic capacities. On the contrary, it is the most significant limiting factor. Therefore, a repeated study should select those various variables which better represent the transport and regulatory abilities of the heart and circulatory system.
