Evaluation of reduced models of energy characteristics in slalom kayakers

Sažetak
The problem of explaining a competitive result in kayak slalom by means of a group of indicators of energy characteristics lies in the constantly changing conditions. Competitive results will be presented as a combination of the smallest possible number of indicators of energy characteristics which can substitute, to the greatest possible extent, for the competitive result itself. The competitive result will then be substituted with the result of the most predictive test, and subsequently, the result of this test will be presented as a combination of the same indicators that were used for the explanation of the reduced model of the competitive result.
For the calculation of the reduced model of competitive result five indicators of energy characteristics were used as prognostics variables and the best time as an indicator of the competitive result. The correlation of the actually achieved best times and the best times calculated theoretically with the reduced model equation amounts to r=0.96, p<.01. The percentage of the explained variance of the reduced model of the substitute result amounts to 88.87 %. The correlation of the velocity of the figure-of-eight paddling and the velocity calculated theoretically with the reduced model equation amounts to r=0.96, p<.01. The percentage of the explained variance of the reduced model of the substitute result amounts to 94.7 %. A basic finding for the theory of training is, that the best achieved time in kayak slalom competition can be simulated with the time in the figure-of-eight paddling test, and that the competitive capability can be monitored under controlled conditions.
