Sažetak

My research aims at studying the functioning of the poetic features of the “new autobiographism” in Ukrainian and Croatian literature of the 21st century, as well as determining the dominant trends in the use of the autobiographical element in prose works by Croatian and Ukrainian writers.
The article deals with examples of autofiction and pays attention to the role of intertextuality (in particular, autocitation) in “new autobiographism” works, addressing the tendency of blurring the lines between the real and the fictive, between autobiography and fiction. A comparison of the Ukrainian and Croatian “new autobiographism” prose reaches a conclusion about the erasure of distinction between genres of fiction and non-fiction, whose convergence is one of the signs of the times.
