Sažetak

The aim of the study was to determine the relation between some educational characteristics of the parents and the freshmen's achievement at the Faculty for Physical Culture in Zagreb.
Bz means of the regression analysis it was established that educational status of the parents does not have a significant effect upon the freshmen's ac11ievement at the Faculty. The probable reason for this is, among other things, the specific nature of the subject content at this faculty that the students have not had o chance to come into contact with, Besides, the subjects demand equal requirements upon mental and physical abilities and can therefore only be mastered through one's personal efforts. Consequently, the study of physical culture is one of those disciplines that offer equal chances to all students regardless of their passive social status.
