Sažetak
This paper presents the results of a questionnaire given in the internet pages of Croatian
Forests, Ltd., Zagreb, in which the views and opinions of the users of the page on secondary forest
products and non-wood forest services are asked. The questionnaire was designed and introduced
on the internet pages of the Directorate of Croatian Forests, Ltd., Zagreb at the end of
2004 and beginning of 2005, and was open to all users. The aim of the questionnaire was to
find out the views of employees and other users on the importance, present use and possibilities
of use of secondary forest products and other services of the forest, which for the purpose of easier
understanding, are called non-wood productive. This refers particularly to social services of
the forest, such as recreation, health and tourist benefits, which, like other forest products, can
be the object of planning and management in the forestry.
The questionnaire consisted of 12 questions, dealing with the social status of the examinees
and their views on the relevant problems. In most cases the questions offered the possibility of
several answers, of which one or more was needed, and for some questions there was the possibility
of giving added comments which were not covered by the answers offered. Furthermore, it
was possible to add comments on the significance and use of secondary forest products.
During a period of several months the questionnaire was completed by slightly more
than 300 users, and valuable comments were collected. The data collected were analysed
according to age groups, workplaces and regions (continental, montane and coastal).
The basic conclusion indicates the importance of secondary forest products and the
general view of their poor utilisation, both for personal use and with regard to ensuring additional
income for Croatian Forests, Ltd.
