Illuminated Manuscripts of the so-called Ada Group or the Court School of Charlemagne

Sažetak
As the name suggests, illuminated manuscripts of the so-called Ada group or the Court School of Charlemagne belong to the historical period of the already mentioned emperor, and the work of this group is located in the period from 781 or 783 to the end of the third decade of the 9th century, i.e. by 827. However, the whole group of manuscripts was probably created during the life of Charlemagne, before his death in 814. Therefore, it is the oldest confirmed group of illuminated manuscripts in Carolingian art. It is believed that the place of origin of all these codices is the court scriptorium of the city of Aachen. Ada group currently consists of seven manuscripts. The whole development path of the style of that school is reflected in the combination of earlier influences and role models, thus bringing to the space of Western Europe a new expression created on the basis of old forms. Behind the creation of all these manuscripts, one can always feel the character of the ruler himself who played the role of the main driving force, which he proved with his commitment to the art and culture of that time, and this is best seen in the phenomenon of so-called Carolingian Renaissance.
