Sažetak
Phrase "location based services" from the business and technological point of view belongs to the telecommunication industry. Technological component is made of positioning system, communication system and data storing and managing system. Although the location determination is traditionally geodetic responsibility, telecommunication industry solves that problem independently, using sophisticated technology. It is expected that further technological development will upgrade quality, i.e. the precision of location. Relation with geodesy however exists, on the first place in development of content databases used by Location Based Services. This article describes technical aspects of positioning principles, appliances and examples as well as description of necessary data where geodetic profession can recognize its business opportunity.
