Sažetak

Field studies were conducted to evaluate weed control in sugar beet by using one treatment, two treatments or three herbicide treatments in three different growth stages of sugar beet. The trial consisted of four treatments including untreated check. The following herbicides or herbicide products were included in the trial: metamitron (Goltix 700 SC), ethofumesate + phenmedipham + plant oil + surfactant (Betanal expert), ethofumesate (Kalinoron) and clopyralid (Lontrel 300). The first herbicide treatment was at two leaf stage of sugar beet. (12th of May), second at 5 – 6 leaves stage (1st of June) and third at 7 – 9 leaves stage (13th of June). At the time of applications weeds were in the stage between cotyledons and 3 – 5 (10) leaves.
Dominant weed species on untreated plots were Polygonum aviculare (POLAV), Chenopodium album (CHEAL) and Galinsoga parviflora (GALPA). Percentage of total number of weed reduction was 65,8 % by using one treatment, two treatments 71,9 % and three treatments 79.9 %. When efficacy of herbicides were expressed through reduction of fresh weight of weed, the results were 50,6 %, 79,4 % and 88,5 %.
